Congratulations!
Congratulations to all teams!   Each  of you deserves sincere congratulations for what you have accomplished this fall  whether or not you will advance to the Alliance Competition.
We encourage teams who are not  advancing to the Alliance Competition to participate in the Virtual  Competition.
3D  Competition Results
The final 3D competition Leaderboard  results are posted!
We ran the leaderboard 20 times  after 3D submissions closed in order to converge the results  and settle the ranking of teams that entered on the last day.
As announced during the kickoff we  have a few teams from non-ISS partner countries who have been invited to join as  full participants in the Virtual Competition only.

Three of these teams have ranked among the top 84 on the 3D  Leaderboard.  Congratulations to teams: Tecquium, Player 2 ZR, and Kugelblitz  for their strong performance in the 3D competition!

Since these three teams will not be  competing in the Alliance Competition this opens up 3 spots for the teams  ranked 85th-87th to participate in the Alliance Competition.
Therefore, all eligible teams ranked  in the top 87 spots on this year¹s leaderboard are invited to advance to the  Alliance Competition.  All other teams are invited to  join the Virtual Competition

Information for Teams Advancing to the Alliance Competition  (eligible teams ranked 1-87)
1) Attachment: Please see the attachment for  details about the Alliance Draft Event

2)  Mandatory Confirmation of Participation in Alliance Draft  Events
In order to advance to alliance  phase each team must have at least one representative participate in their  team¹s Alliance Draft Event.  We require teams to provide confirmation of their  plans to participate and continue on to the Alliance Phase.
Please complete the following Google  Form by November 1st.  If you do not wish to participate or if we do not get  confirmation from you by Nov 1st we will open your spot to the next highest  ranked team on the leaderboard.
Confirmation of Participation Form.  (One response per team please.)

3) Division of Teams Between Draft  Events
Alliances of 3 teams each will be  formed during the two Draft events scheduled for November 4th (See section 5.3  of game manual). The link below shows the division of the current Alliance Teams  between the two Alliance Draft Events.
Note that we switched a few teams  between Drafts part 1 and part 2 to provide some (slight) time zone  accommodation for the teams from Australia.
  • Columns A, B, C describe Draft part  1 (primarily odd- numbered teams) which will take place on: Nov 4th, 17:00-19:00 UTC
  • Columns E, F, G describe Draft part  2 (primarily even-numbered teams) which will take place on Nov 4th:  19:00-21:00 UTC
  • Columns I-O include several time  zone conversions.
Link showing the division of teams  between draft events is provided here:

4) Contacting Teams prior to the  Draft Event
Alliances will be formed between  teams participating in the same Alliance Draft Event (either Draft part 1  or Draft part 2).
First round draft picks must be  between teams from different continents.
  • In total we have teams from 3  continents participating in this year¹s Alliance competition:  Australia,  Europe, North America.

As you begin to review your choices  feel free to contact other teams to find out more about them.  Please use the  contact emails provided on the "Contact Emails for 3D  Teams 2017" as you  prepare for Draft day.   All communication must be respectful.

5) Test compatibility with WebEx  Meeting
The Alliance Draft Day Event will be  hosted using Webex.  On Friday Nov 4th will send out a test Webex  Meeting link in a separate email to provide teams a chance to test system  compatibility with Webex prior to the Alliance Draft Event.  More information  will follow later this week.

Information for Teams Eligible for the Virtual Competition

1) When will the Virtual Competition Begin?
The Virtual Competition will kickoff at the same time as the Alliance Competition.  We will be sending out a separate email over the weekend to announce the start of both competitions.  Teams participating in both competitions will create projects using the LIFE SPHERES_Alliance version of the game which will be deployed next week.
Additional details about the Virtual Competition are provided in section 5.6 of the Game Manual.
2) I am interested in forming an Alliance for the Virtual Competition.  What do I do?
Alliances are not required for the Virtual Competition but are very much encouraged.  Teams planning to participate in the Virtual Competition are welcome to contact other teams not advancing to the Alliance Competition to discuss working together collaboratively during the Virtual Competition.
Alliance formation for the Virtual Competition is an informal process. The only restriction is that you may not form an alliance with a team participating in the Alliance Competition.
Contact teams directly using the updated team contact information provided here.   All communication must be respectful.
IMPORTANT: Once you have agreed to form an alliance please email zerorobotics@mit.edu , with the names and countries of the teams in your alliance  so we can join the teams together in the database.  Please  "cc" your new alliance partners on your email.

Link to Map of Registered Teams
A map with the locations of all 2017 Registered Teams is provided in the link below to help with your planning.
You can scroll down the list on the right hand side of the map to find teams names and double click to see team location.  Note that location is approximate since it is based only on country, state, city and school/organization names submitted with each team application.   School/organization name was not always recognized by the mapping program.  If you find a significant error, please let us know.

Please email zerorobotics@mit.edu with any questions.

Best Regards,
Wendy for the ZR Team
